Ninety years of worship in the Garden City
Welcome
A community gathered in prayer, rooted in the apostolic faith
St Mary's Jacobite Syriac Orthodox Cathedral is the first Syriac Orthodox Church in Bangalore (Bengaluru). It is located in the heart of the Garden City — the Information Technology capital of India — at Queens Road, near Vidhana Soudha, a landmark of Bangalore.
Syrian Christian worship began here in 1936; in 1975, the faithful who held allegiance to the Holy See of Antioch came together prayerfully under one roof to form this parish — a home for faith, worship, and fellowship that continues to this day.

On the Syriac Christian faith
The Syriac Orthodox Church traces its roots to the very cradle of Christianity — Antioch of Syria, where disciples were first called Christians. Rooted in the Apostle Peter's founding of the church at Antioch, our tradition preserves the ancient Syriac liturgy, the language of the land where Christ walked.
The faith of the Syriac Orthodox Church is in strict accordance with the Nicene Creed. It professes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God — perfect God and perfect Man — one nature, one will, and one lordship.
